Man tampered with saline laxatives

JACKSONVILLE, Forida – Police have arrested a man they said repeatedly bought packs of enema saline laxatives from a CVS store, used them and returned them to the store.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was arrested on an unrelated outstanding warrant while investigators look into the product tampering case.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is working with investigators from the Food and Drug Administration, the lead agency, in this case.

Police said the man had been frequenting the CVS and began returning the product. They said he would purchase a pack of enamas and return them at a later time.

CVS employees told police the items appeared to be unused, and so the store would put the box of enemas back on the shelf for resale.

Texas college hacks government drone

Austin, Texas – There are a lot of cool things you can do with $1,000, but scientists at an Austin, Texas college have come across one that is often overlooked: for less than a grand, how’d you like to hijack a US government drone?

A group of researchers led by Professor Todd Humphreys from the University of Texas at Austin Radionavigation Laboratory recently succeeded in raising the eyebrows of the US government. With just around $1,000 in parts, Humphreys’ team took control of an unmanned aerial vehicle operated by the US Department of Homeland Security.

After being challenged by his lab, the DHS dared Humphreys’ crew to hack into their drone and take command. Much to their chagrin, they did exactly that.

Mom locks toddler in room, goes out drinking

FORSYTH COUNTY, Georgia – Authorities discovered an Atlanta-area toddler locked in a home without food or water after they arrested his mother, 21-year-old Stephanie Davis, on suspicion of drunk driving after a night of partying.

Davis later called her mother from jail and told her her son was being watched at her home. Her mother then called the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and asked them to check on the child.

“The child was dressed in a dirty white T-shirt,” Forsyth Sheriff Ted Paxton said in a press release obtained by WSBTV. “He had removed his diaper himself and it was on the floor, filled to overflowing with feces. The child had feces on his hands, feet and legs.”

Women join in annual beard championships

Los Angeles, California – There was a frenzy of facial hair on display at one Los Angeles theater as the city’s annual beard and moustache competition took center stage.

And this year there could be no accusations of sexism as even the ladies were invited to show off their fantastic fuzz.

With categories ranging from business beard to freestyle and sideburns/ mutton chops to goatee, there was something for all tastes.

Not to be left out, the women were urged to make their own themed creations in the ‘whiskerinas’ section. Backstage, the competitors, who had come from as far as Utah and Massachusetts, took time to groom before facing the crowd at the historic Belasco Theater.

Homeowner finds naked intruder cooking breakfast

Massachusetts – Police say a Newcomb Place homeowner got a surprise when she returned to her apartment to find a naked woman cooking breakfast in the kitchen.

Cops later identified the uninhibited intruder as 22-year-old Katherine Lee Ferguson of 12 Old Beach Road, Manomet, a village of Plymouth.

Police allege Ferguson and a male friend, identified as 24-year-old Kyle Timmons of Taunton, knew the homeowner was away for the night when they forced open two rear doors to let themselves in.

Timmons was arrested on two counts of putting a person in fear while breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony, malicious destruction of property over $250, resisting arrest and violation of a restraining order.

His alleged accomplice, Ferguson, was charged with two counts of putting a person in fear while breaking and entering, malicious destruction of property over $250 and receiving stolen property.

32-pound 10-year-old found locked in closet

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – A Kansas City mother, Jacole Prince, 29, was arrested after her 10-year-old daughter, who weighed only 32 pounds, was found locked in a closet, Fox 4 reports.

The child was morning after authorities received a call to a child abuse hotline. When officers arrived, two women told them the mother had left about 20 minutes earlier with two girls, whom they described as “clean and well fed,” a Kansas City officer said in the probable cause statement received by The Associated Press.

When officers entered the home, they found the severely malnourished child locked in a closet that reeked of feces and urine. She reportedly told officers she had not been allowed to accompany her family to breakfast because “she messes herself.”

Woman hit with baseball sues Little League player

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. – A New Jersey woman who was struck in the face with a baseball at a Little League game is suing the young catcher who threw it.

Elizabeth Lloyd is seeking more than $150,000 in damages to cover medical costs stemming from the incident at a Manchester Little League game two years ago. She’s also seeking an undefined amount for pain and suffering.

Lloyd was sitting at a picnic table near a fenced-in bullpen when she was hit with the ball. Catcher Matthew Migliaccio was 11 years old at the time and was warming up a pitcher.

Football fan dies after going 11 nights without sleep

A Chinese football fan died after going 11 nights without sleep as he tried to watch every single kick of the ball of Euro 2012.

Jiang Xiaoshan, said to be supporting England and France in the tournament, died of exhaustion.
Because of the time difference, he reportedly stayed up each night with friends and then went to work the following day.

Following the Ireland versus Italy match, Sina.com said he went back to his Changsha home at 5am, took a shower, fell asleep and never woke up.

Friends said the news of his death came as a shock, as he lived a ‘relatively healthy life’, and had played football for his university team just a couple of years before.

Woman uses umbrella to hit another woman walking her dogs

Florida – Enraged after discovering dog poop on her doorstep weeks ago, a Stuart woman was arrested following accusations she used an umbrella to hit another woman walking her dogs.

Josephine Frazia, 61, told Martin County Sheriff’s deputies she started to follow a 28-year-old woman who was walking her dogs.

Frazia wanted to make sure the woman cleaned up any canine caca, and also wanted to see her leave the area, recently released sheriff’s records state.

The 28-year-old woman said she and her pooches were on Southeast Windsong Lane and that Frazia followed her. The 28-year-old woman said she discarded some dog doo as Frazia stood close and watched.

Woman accused of groping TSA agent

A 59-year-old Florida woman stands accused of groping a female TSA agent while going through airport security – though she says she was just sticking up for herself.

A video of the incident shows passenger Carol Jean Price putting down her bags dramatically and grabbing a TSA supervisor in what appears to be the crotch area.

Price claims an agent grabbed her breasts and crotch during a screening at Southwest Florida International Airport, and that she was just demonstrating the aggressive treatment, when she was caught on camera.

“She did not touch the supervisor as intrusively as she was touched,” Price’s lawyer John Mills said, according to Florida ABC affiliate WZVN.

Naked shoppers storm supermarket

Germany – Hundreds of naked shoppers flocked to a new German supermarket offering free groceries to customers willing to get their clothes off.

They camped outside the new Priss supermarket in Suderlugum, North Frisia, in the hope of being among the lucky first 100 promised free groceries.

Police, photographers and a bemused supermaket manager Nils Sterndorff witnessed the strange scenes at the supermarket opening.

Customers wandered between the aisles studying shopping lists in nothing but their birthday suits.

A jilted bride has finally been granted a divorce from her cheating husband six months after her father caught him in the act with a waitress at their wedding reception.

The unidentified German man apparently couldn’t wait to consummate the marriage and instead snuck away with a waitress for a quickie in the kitchen.

UK – They might spread it on toast every morning – but if you asked 16- to 23-year-olds where butter comes from, many don’t have a clue.

And when it comes to the humble bacon sandwich, a third are unaware its meaty filling comes from a pig - with three per cent believing cows produce it.

A third are also ignorant of where we get our milk and did not know that eggs came from chickens. Fifteen per cent think they came from a crop, a Linking Environment And Farming report says.

Despite the 2,000 participants being shown a picture of a dairy cow as part of the multiple choice quiz, 59 per cent still failed to say where butter originates.

Teachers in the Litchfield Elementary School District may soon need new clothes, hairstyles, jewelry and shoes as board members consider a policy that touts modesty and professional appearance in the classroom.

Board members said the district doesn’t have professional dress guidelines other than a general policy asking employees to dress professionally.

Board member Sara Griffin said vague rules make it awkward for administrators to attempt discipline when an employee wears clothing or accessories that are deemed inappropriate.

The recommended policy would prohibit rubber-sole flip-flops, visible undergarments, any visible cleavage, bare midriffs, clothes that are deemed too tight, too loose or transparent, bare shoulders, short skirts and exercise pants.

Man bitten on the hand trying to rescue mouse from cat

An Oregon man is at death's door in a hospital battling a rare case of the infamous "Black Death" plague, health officials said.

The unidentified man, who is in his 50s, was bitten on the hand while trying to pull a mouse away from a stray cat on June 2 and got sick several days later, doctors at St. Charles Medical Center-Bend told The Oregonian newspaper.

The man was thought to be suffering from septicemic plague - meaning the ruthless bacteria was spreading in his bloodstream - and was in critical condition, doctors said.

Famously known as "Black Death," the disease killed around 75 million people - around a third of the population - when it swept through Europe in the 14th century.

Pick-up overturned, 16 bodies tumbled onto roadway

Police thought they’d stumbled on a serial killer when a pick-up truck overturned on a motorway – and 16 bodies tumbled onto the tarmac.

Police sealed off the road in Luozhou, Sichuan province, China, but abandoned a murder hunt when the driver turned out to be a professor from the city’s medical school who’d bought the bodies for his students to use in class.

“They began to go off pretty quickly once they were stretched out in the sun. The smell was sickening,” said one motorist.

Police summoned ambulances from a nearby morgue to take the bodies to their their final resting place – in the college fridge.

Woman Posed As Boy, Tricked Girl Into Sex

A 24-year-old Massachusetts woman who allegedly masqueraded as a teenage boy is facing federal charges for engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a 15-year-old girl who was unaware that the boyfriend she met online was actually a female, The Smoking Gun has learned.

Carissa Hads was arrested on a U.S. District Court complaint accusing her of coercion or enticement of a minor, a felony carrying a maximum of 30 years in prison.

Following Hads's, agents searched her front pants pocket and located a "fake, flesh-colored penis" that she apparently used during one of two prior sexual encounters with the teenage victim. Hads was busted after flying to meet the girl for a third liaison.

UK Prime Minister Leaves 8-year-old daughter in pub

LONDON – It’s every parent’s nightmare — get home and realize a child is missing.

British Prime Minister David Cameron’s office confirmed hat he accidentally left his 8-year-old daughter Nancy in a country pub after a family lunch.

Nancy had gone to the bathroom while Cameron and the rest of the family piled into two cars to drive back to the house.

Cameron was travelling in one car with his bodyguards and assumed that she was in the other car with his wife Samantha and two other children. Samantha assumed Nancy was with her father, and they only realized she was missing when they got home.

Pastor Creflo Dollar choked, hit daughter wih a shoe

ATLANTA (AP) – The 15-year-old daughter of megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar told authorities her father choked and punched her, and hit her with his shoe during an argument over whether she could go to a party, according to a police report.

Dollar’s 19-year-old daughter corroborated most of her sister’s story, but Dollar disputed it, telling a sheriff’s deputy he was trying to restrain her when she became disrespectful. When she began to hit back, he wrestled her to the floor and spanked her, according to the police report.

Dollar is one of the most prominent African-American preachers based around Atlanta. His World Changers Church International has 30,000 members in the Atlanta area, and the ministry has satellite churches across the U.S.

Grandma stole, gambled away grandson’s college fund

A 73-year-old woman has been found in Louisiana after being charged with stealing and gambling away $97,000 from a trust fund for her grandson’s college education, authorities said, but she may never return to Indiana for prosecution.

Edna Sue Pate was wanted in Indiana, where the charges were filed, but authorities there said they would not have her brought there to face the charges. Officials in that state had been ordered to extradite her only if she was found in a surrounding state, which would not include Louisiana.

The court records say 30 withdrawals from that account were made from ATMs at two casinos in Indiana. Records from one of the casinos, Majestic Star II in Gary, show Pate lost more than $93,000 during that time period.

Coma patient sheds tears after hearing phone call

Child sex offender running for school board

HOLLADAY – A man who spent time behind bars for child sex abuse is seeking a seat on the Granite school board.

Richard Wagner Jones, a registered sex offender, is currently running against incumbent Dan Lofgren for the first precinct seat on the Granite Board of Education. He is listed on the ballot as R. Wagner Jones, according to the Salt Lake County Clerk’s Office.

Jones pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony, on July 30, 1990. Several other related charges against him were dismissed, according to court documents. He completed his sentence, which included both prison time and parole, in 2005.

Feds Bust Dallas Socialite for Child Porn

Federal agents raided the $1.4 million home of 41-year-old mother Erika Perdue, the wife of a prominent Dallas intellectual property attorney.

They’d been tracking her computer usage for months, and according to court documents, they had evidence that under the handle “Classybitch,” Perdue trafficked “visual depictions of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.” During a raid last week, the feds carted off several computers that are reportedly filled with the stuff.

Perdue is said to have told investigators that she had so much kiddy porn she couldn’t keep up with it all. In another report, she allegedly told an FBI agent that she had been trading these foul files while her husband was at work since 1999, some weeks every single day.

Black bear killed for swatting man in hot tub

An uninvited guest made a big splash in a hot tub.

Now a 55-year-old Coquitlam man is recovering after being attacked by a black bear while relaxing in the family tub at his Casabella Crescent residence in the north end of Whistler.

The man suffered head wounds in the attack at about 3 p.m.

Chris Doyle of the B.C. Conservation Officers Service said the man is lucky after being hit in the head by the charging bear.

The man had his back to the forest — and the bear — when it swatted him in the head from behind and launched him forward in the hot tub. He scrambled out.

Artist turns his dead cat into flying helicopter

Many animal lovers find it hard to part with their pets when they die.

So when cat Orville, named after the famous aviator Orville Wright, was run over by a car, his artist owner decided to turn him into a permanent piece of artwork as the ultimate tribute by transforming him into a flying helicopter.

Dutch artist Bart Jansen first stuffed Orville before teaming up with radio control helicopter flyer Arjen Beltman to build a specially-designed flying mechanism to attach to the cat.

The end result, named the Orvillecopter, is now on show at the Kunstrai art festival in Amsterdam where visitors can watch Orville flying for themselves.

Mom drives with 5-week-old baby on roof of car

PHOENIX - Phoenix police have arrested a woman who allegedly drove off after forgetting that her 5-week-old baby was in a car seat on the roof of her vehicle.

Officer James Holmes said officers were called out after witnesses found a child strapped in a safety seat in the middle of an intersection.

Authorities say the child’s mother, 19-year-old Catalina Clouser, her boyfriend and their friends had been smoking marijuana earlier in the evening at a nearby park.

Upset that her boyfriend was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, police say Clouser went to the home of friends and smoked more marijuana. More

Worker needed a break – called in bomb hoax

Letisha Vester just wanted a break from work, said Holly Hill Police Chief Mark Barker.
So what did she do? Police say she called the company where she works and said there was a bomb inside the building.

“She’s definitely getting the break she wanted,” an annoyed Barker said. “At the Volusia County Branch Jail.”
The 43-year-old Vester, an employee at Metra Electronics, 460 Walker St., was walking to work before sunup when she made the call from her cellphone, Barker said. She left the message for the company’s human resources division at 4:30 a.m., the chief said.

Vester, who was booked into the jail, is charged with making a false report of a bomb. She could face federal charges, Barker said. She is also wanted on a warrant for felony larceny out of Okaloosa County, Barker said.

Houston Gets Fake Shuttle – Made of Wood

Houston’s space community is hoping to finally put New York Sen. Chuck Schumer behind them with a three-day “shuttlebration” this weekend.

It was Schumer who said last summer, “Let me say to Houston what we say in Brooklyn, fuggedaboutit, they are not getting the shuttle.”

But Space Center Houston this weekend is getting something — the life-sized mock orbiter “Explorer” made of wood and metal.

Former astronaut Jerry Ross still calls it a slap in the face.
“Being one of the two prime centers for the shuttle program I think its very frustrating we didn’t get a vehicle here, but we’ve got to press on and deal with what we’ve been dealt,” says Ross.
