The model, who had spent 60,000 pounds on procedures, said: “I looked in the mirror and screamed. All I could see was a monster looking back at me.”

Her lips had ballooned to four times their normal size after a botched jab that was meant to make them sexily plump.

Now Laura, once branded the vainest woman in Britain, wants to warn others about the risk of cowboy cosmetic companies.

She said: “It’s dishonest and they are playing with people’s lives.”

Fireworks in buttocks trick lands man in hospital

A Northern Territory man may be flown to Adelaide after a party trick involving setting off fire crackers between his buttocks went badly wrong.

The 23-year-old man was at a party in the Darwin suburb of Rapid Creek when he decided to let the cracker off, NT Police said.

“It appears a party was in full progress when a young male decided to place a firework between the cheeks of his bottom and light it,” said Senior Sergeant Garry Smith.

Mom claims she found razor blade in bag of candy

SANTA CLARA, California – A Northern California mother is raising safety concerns after saying she found an old, rusty razor blade in a bag of Jolly Rancher candy.

Amy Hu says she bought the bag of Crunch N Chew candy at Santa Clara Safeway, and after eating a couple of pieces pulled out a dull 3-inch blade, partially wrapped in white tape.

KGO-TV reports that candy maker Hershey has not issued a recall. The company issued a statement saying Hershey believes it was an isolated case and accidental.

Teenager beaten unconscious for making Nazi salute on a train

Germany – A German teenager who can’t help making Nazi salutes because he suffers from Tourette’s syndrome was beaten unconscious by a black man who thought he was insulting him.

Gerrit Oeller, 16, was with two friends who tried to explain to the enraged man that the salute was not meant as an insult, and that he could not control his arm.

But when the Tourette’s led the teenager to grin insanely at the man as well, he went mad, hitting Gerrit so hard that he ended up unconscious.

Woman Fired for Smelling Like Cigarette Smoke

A Fridley woman named Stephanie Cannon believes she’s the victim of discrimination – fired because she smelled like cigarette smoke.

Cannon, a smoker for 18 years, says she smokes almost a pack a day of Camel Menthols. But when she landed a job in June as a medical receptionist at Park Nicollet Health Services, in the Frauenshuh Cancer Center, she says she followed the hospital’s clearly-stated “no smoking” policy. (There is no smoking allowed at any time on the premises.)

“There were never any performance issues at all,” Cannon insists.

Yet six weeks after she started she says her supervisor told her, “We don’t want you smelling like smoke when you come here.”

Cannon says she did everything she could to get rid of the stench. “I stopped smoking on my breaks, I wouldn’t smoke in my car, I bought new clothes,” she claims. Santa look-alike asked to leave Disney World

Florida – An Atlanta man who bears resemblance to Old Saint Nick was asked to leave Disney World recently for stealing fame from other costumed staff.

Some of the park’s little elves scolded Thomas Tolbert in the magic kingdom for distracting park-goers. Tolbert says that he while was wearing ‘Santa-related’ clothing, he was not costumed as the jolly red giant.

“I had a shirt that had – it would be like a collage – and it had Santa faces and it had sayings from ‘The Night Before Christmas,’” Tolbert told Local 6.

While he was in the park, Tolbert told the station that kids and adults coming up to him for autographs and photos because of his appearance, which is something he is used to – Tolbert works as a professional Santa Claus, according to his talent agency profile page.

Wealthy Hamptons couple ‘kept Indonesian woman as a slave’

A wealthy couple have been accused of keeping an Indonesian woman as a near-slave, trapping her at their Hamptons home and forcing her to endure harsh working conditions.

Rose and Lawrence Halsey, of Water Mill, are being sued by Ni Ketut Sulastri, from Bali, for allegedly forcing her to live a life of long working hours with poor pay between 2005 and 2008.

The suit, obtained by theNew York Post, says the Hasleys hired Ms Sulastri to work at their home on Halsey Lane through an Indonesian intermediary.

She was forced to live in a closet and was fed only leftovers and hot dogs.

Man told friends to set his head on fire at a bar, so they did

AUGUSTA, Georgia – A Georgia man was injured after allegedly goading his friends to set his head on fire while drinking at a local bar.

WJBF reports investigators were originally told by 36-year-old William Bonner’s friends that a group of attackers had set Bonner’s head on fire after he had gotten in a fight with them at an Augusta bar.

However, investigators say they believe Bonner actually encouraged his friends to set his head on fire by dousing it with Bacardi 151 rum.

Hair growth pills turns man into a woman

A man who took pills to help cure his baldness has claimed they turned him into a woman.

While William McKee’s hair failed to grow back the father of one said he developed breasts and his hips began to widen.

Months after he sensed his shape was changing he became a cross dresser and went by the name of Mandi as he wore woman’s clothes.

The former Silicon Valley entrepreneur said he did not have any hidden desire to be a cross dresser before taking a generic version of the hair growth pill called Propecia.

He claims the pills, which he took once a day for nine months, radically changed the hormonal balance of his body and he now is now considering a full sex change.

Dogs fitted with cameras to help police catch criminals

UK – Staffordshire Police dogs are the first in the country to be fitted with lightweight digital cameras to their heads in a bid to keep officers safe.

The British-made Fido camera equipment is designed to help officers locate offenders quickly without putting themselves in immediate danger.

Canines wearing the device, which also has an infra-red setting, can be sent into buildings, warehouses and woods while the images are relayed to a screen in an officer’s patrol car.

200 Chihuahuas removed from home

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – More than 200 Chihuahuas have been removed from what officials are calling unsanitary conditions in a central Pennsylvania home.

The state Agriculture Department said that dog wardens cooperating with state police executed a search warrant at the home in Benton, in Columbia County, after receiving numerous tips.

They say many of the dogs were sick and numerous dead dogs were found. State police are expected to file animal cruelty charges against the owners.

Library closes to clean bedbugs with bedbug sniffing dog

Tulsa, Okla., July 18 (UPI) – Tulsa, Okla., library officials called in a secret weapon to deal with a bedbug infestation: Oklahoma’s only bedbug sniffing dog, Ms. Liberty Belle (Picture).

The Tulsa Central Library was evacuated after a library patron reported being bitten, the Tulsa World reported. Only a few chairs at the library were believed contaminated and were to be destroyed.

Ms. Liberty Belle, the bedbug-sniffing beagle, was summoned from Norman to investigate the extent of the contamination, after which an exterminator was to be called. Men stopped at border for having illegal chocolate eggs

SEATTLE, Washington – Two Seattle men say they spent more than two hours in a detention center at the Canadian border after U.S. border agents discovered illegal chocolate eggs in their car.

Brandon Loo and Christopher Sweeney told KOMO-TV they decided to bring home some treats for friends and family during a recent trip to Vancouver, British Columbia. They bought Kinder Eggs – chocolate eggs with a toy inside.

The two men say border guards searched their car and said the eggs are illegal in the United States because young children could choke on the small plastic toys. Importing them can lead to a potentially hefty fine.

Arizona man traveled to Tampa for sex with girl, 14

Florida – An Arizona man is in custody after traveling to Tampa in an attempt to have sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Hillsborough County deputies say Jonathan David Lane, 33, has sent numerous lewd email and cell phone messages and pictures to the victim since June 2011.

Deputies say Lane had full knowledge of the victim’s age, and physical condition as she is confined to a wheelchair.

Freon Thefts On The Rise To Get High

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Police say thieves climbed up a ladder of a local business and ransacked the three air conditioning units on the roof for scrap and the very dangerous gas Freon, which can cause a person to be high and kill them in the same breath.

It may cost tens of thousands of dollars to repair each air conditioning units that were broken into by the suspects.

Joe Kessler, owner of McDonald Heating and Air, said along with the copper and aluminum parts inside, they also got away with a Freon fix.

Talkeetna, Alaska Mayor is a Cat Named Stubbs

TALKEETNA, Alaska – A cat named Stubbs has been the mayor of Talkeetna for nearly all of his life — no joke.

It’s been that way for more than a decade in the small tourist town that boasts nearly 900 residents.
The part-manx was named honorary mayor shortly after his birth, and now locals all know the cat as “Mayor Stubbs.”

Identity Thief Serves Prison Time as His Victim

California – A San Francisco man is behind bars today after he allegedly stole his friend’s identification and used it to get money, a job, and traffic tickets, and even served his jail sentence under his friend’s identity.


Officer Gordon Shyy says San Francisco police received a call from a man in Michigan who claimed that someone in San Francisco had been using his name, birthday, and social security number to obtain health benefits.

The victim knew this was true, because he had been denied health benefits in Michigan, where authorities informed him he already had insurance in California, a state the victim had never even visited.

After some investigating, police learned 58-year-old Gregory Harville was allegedly using the victim’s identification and collecting general assistance money.

What’s more unbelievable, is that Harville also collected citations, tickets, and a criminal record under his friend’s name; he served time in state prison, not as Harville, but as the victim, police said.

Cops called over swearing parrot

Police called out to deal with a noisy neighbour complaint in Glasgow were shocked to be confronted by a swearing parrot.

Officers turned up to an address in Govan to find Pepe, a yellow-headed Amazon parrot, who used to live in a taxi office.

The bird was screeching out prhrases such as “taxi for Govan Road”, as well as more industrial language, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Pepe’s embarrassed owner John McAlinden said: “He mainly shouts out bookings, like ‘taxi for Govan’ and ‘taxi for Lidl’. He also says things like ‘car one’, ‘car two’ and ’10-4′. “It’s hilarious. I was very surprised at first because I was told he didn’t speak much. But sometimes it’s like living in a cab office.”

Woman dresses up corpse, watches NASCAR with it

JACKSON, Michigan – A woman said she kept the dead body of her companion in a chair in their southern Michigan house because she didn’t want to be alone.

Linda Chase, 72, said she kept the remains of Charles Zigler (Picture) clean and dressed and talked to the body while watching NASCAR on television.

“It’s not that I’m heartless. I didn’t want to be alone. He was the only guy who was ever nice to me,” Chase told the Jackson Citizen Patriot.

Jackson police discovered Zigler’s body in a living room chair last week. Authorities believe he died of natural causes at age 67 in December 2010, although Chase said it was last December. She said there wasn’t a bad smell.

Python found wrapped around baby’s foot in apartment

Illinois – Police say a 2-foot-long ball python slithered its way into an Illinois apartment and wrapped itself around the foot of a sleeping 1-year-old boy and bit him on his left foot.

Mattoon Police Department Deputy Chief Jason Taylor said the boy’s parents were awakened by the child’s noises to find the snake attacking their son about 11 p.m., the Mattoon Journal-Gazette & Times-Courier reported.

The father, Devin Winans, used a blanket to pull the python off the child, and his mother took the boy to a health center for treatment of a bite mark, bruise and scratches, the newspaper reported.

Man accused of threatening classmates before 20-year reunion

San antonio, Texas – Twenty years after he claims to have been bullied in high school, a man allegedly threatened vengeance on his classmates on his high school reunion’s Facebook page, officials said.

Jason Carroll Moss, 38, was released on a personal recognizance bond, hours after he was charged with harassment.

Moss is accused of posting a harassing message on the social network page for the John Marshall High School Class of 1992 Reunion.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Moss’s comment read: “I stayed away from graduation at the time because I would have started the Columbine shootings early. I was picked on and bullied by a bunch of you when I went to school and I wanted to kill everyone that hurt me. I’m still seeking vengeance on all those who bullied and harassed me when I was growing up or went to school. Giant saltwater crocodile to be left to man’s children in will

Australia – When Mr Casey “kicks the bucket” his three adult children will inherit Charlene, a 3m saltwater crocodile.

“I am 50 and Charlie turns 50 next year so she will outlive me,” Mr Casey said.
“It got me thinking about what to do with her because she is not just some piece of furniture or antique vase.

“You can’t just pop her on the mantelpiece and give her a good dusting every six months or so.”

The Panicked Email That Scientologists Are Circulating

The Church of Scientology is trying to contend with the greatest scandal its ever seen–the impending divorce of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

Media sites are reporting that Holmes is leaving Cruise because he planned to indoctrinate their young daughter, Suri, and send her to a camp for young Scientologists.

The church sent out an email instructing members on how to “stand up for their religion” and instruct sites like Microsoft and Google to take down anti-Scientology content.

Texas A and M students block Westboro Baptist protesters

Red is a color many associate with anger, however, “wall of red” was a show of love and respect in Texas. Lt. Col. Roy Tisdale, a Texas A and M University graduate in 1993, was killed during a training exercise at Fort Bragg on June 28. During a safety briefing in North Carolina, Lt. Col. Tisdale was shot and killed by a fellow soldier who committed suicide.

Family members and friends were shocked at the loss, claiming that with all of the deployments Tisdale had, they never thought anything would happen to him at home.

The Westboro Baptist Church, on the other hand, planned a protest at Lt. Col. Tisdale’s funeral.
Westboro Baptist Church is known for protesting at military funerals, claiming the soldiers “are dying for the homosexual and other sins of America”. Alumni of Texas A and M University refused to let this happen.

Mom arrested for leaving 19 kids alone in hot home

Kentucky – Police in south central Kentucky have arrested a woman, 32-year-old Jackie Farah, who is the mother of some of the 19 children left alone in a hot, filthy home near Bowling Green.

Police found the kids, including an infant after they had been left in the home for a week.

Police say Farah and Irving “Joe” Smith left town, during a heat wave that hit Bowling Green.

A neighbor called police to the house, and officers found the children alone with no air conditioning and nine dogs and a cat. A police detective said there was an inch of dog feces on the floor in one room.

A neighbor, Annie Adams, said she noticed that the parents living the house never left for work and the kids were always hanging around the house. Doctor kicks 3-year-old in face at Disney World

ORLANDO, Florida – An Italian tourist was arrested after allegedly kicking his 3-year-old son in the face at Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park.

Central Florida News 13 reports Dario Napolitano was arrested after allegedly kicking the boy while the child was in his stroller at the Mexico exhibit in Epcot’s World Showcase.

According to a police report, several witnesses said they saw Napolitano, a doctor in Italy, kick his son after arguing with his wife and children.

Detectives say the boy had a cut below his left eye, bruising above his eyebrow and his entire left eye was swollen.

HARTFORD, Connecticut – A Connecticut man on death row for the killings of a mother and her two daughters in a 2007 home invasion says he came up with a bizarre plan to end his own life by lying about killing others in a spree of violence.

In an interview with The Hartford Courant, Steven Hayes said he fabricated claims in letters last year that he killed 17 people and committed dozens of drugged date rapes. He had hoped prison authorities would notify police and that he could trade information for food, including oysters to which he is deathly allergic.

“I planned to eat them and have them find me dead in my cell the next morning,” he said.

Man shoots himself trying to hit snake

MOLINO, Florida – (WALA) – A Molino man tried to remove a rattlesnake from his yard, but shot himself instead.

Escambia County Deputies 55-year-old Michael Howle was taken by family to West Florida Hospital around 5 p.m.

Howle says he was trying to kill a snake in his yard. When Howle spotted the snake, he told deputies he went inside to grab a gun to kill it.

But in the yard, Howle says the rattler slithered its way around Howle’s right leg, tripping him.
